Industrial XR Training Trends Report
All Aboard the XR Training Train
What’s the state of XR training? We packed up our trunks, walked past Platform 9 ¾, got a cabin with our partners at Oberon, and boarded the express line to talk to industry experts to find out in our Industrial XR Training Survey Sector Report.
What We Learned
We learned a lot! And you can, too. The entire report is free for download here. And you can watch a discussion about said report here. But in summary:
There was an interesting split between companies just starting with XR training and those scaling or preparing to do so.
Training and development are top applications—both current and planned—for XR tech.
The lines are blurry between AR and VR, and mixed reality seems to be optimal for many applications.
Companies using XR training care about: safety, cost, efficacy, and trainee engagement.
XR—for training and otherwise—is a cross-functional initiative that can’t be siloed in a single department.
The major benefits for companies using XR training include:
Safety while training for hazardous situations
Cost savings from reduced travel, less equipment downtime, and improved use of resources
More engaged learners with better outcomes
There are still challenges the industry is working on, like startup costs, content creation, content quality, executive buy-in, and more.
And in things that surprised us (but seems obvious in hindsight): XR training could help companies with ESG goals by reducing travel, eliminating emissions from running equipment for training, and more.
