Integrated Digital Transformation
Dr. Francois Laborie, President of Cognite, recently published a piece in Forbes about the death of Digitalization with a capital D. Does that mean efforts around digital transformation are done? No, on the contrary.
The argument is that digitalization must become an integrated effort across an organization—not a single project or initiative. The path to digitalization is paved with many smaller transformations that have to be coordinated across the organization.
Dr. Laborie puts digitalization in terms enterprises can understand: Think of data like your raw materials. “It needs to be refined and turned into products that everyone can use. Data is only valuable if it can be turned into insights and action,” he said.
His advice for getting away from Digitalization and moving to digitalization includes;
Putting data in the hands of your people
Using data to link sustainability to business targets
Be open with data across the value chain
Enterprises that make data and digital transformation as a priority across their organization can expect to outpace organizations with siloed data operations in efficiency, sustainability, and more.
No offense, it’s time to build a D-fence.
