Texas Works to Become Clean Hydrogen Hub
Texas, including our homebase of Houston, is known for its role in the energy industry. As the industry transitions, so must Texas. The state has projects in wind, solar, carbon capture, and more.
With $8 billion from the Department of Energy set aside for clean hydrogen hubs and thousands of miles of existing pipeline infrastructure, hydrogen can mean big money, more jobs, and a clean energy future.
"We have the right assets, the right infrastructure—all of that exists. This is where all of the big investment decisions get made in the energy industry," said Houston Energy Transition Initiative Executive Director Jane Stricker.
Here are just a few of the hydrogen initiatives right around us:
Greentown's Low-Carbon Hydrogen Accelerator
H2@Scale in Texas and Beyond, which has received DOE funding
1,600 miles of hydrogen pipelines, many retrofitted from natural gas
Green hydrogen research and pilot initiatives
And more
Texas has infrastructure, skilled workers, and incoming funding that can help bring clean hydrogen production to the world.
