Golden Pass Goes 4D
The Golden Pass LNG Export project is a $10 billion upgrade of the existing liquified natural gas (LNG) terminal in Sabine Pass, Texas, from an import terminal to an import/export terminal. The goal is to help power the world with clean LNG, and the facility is expected to be operational in 2024.
The project was given to Zachry Group, with an international project team throughout Japan, the U.S. Gulf Coast, and 18 countries. When COVID-19 lockdowns stopped all travel, the global team needed to adjust.
With thousands of people, millions of pieces of equipment, and miles of pipe involved, virtual collaboration was key. Zachry had an existing relationship with Bently and chose its SYNCHRO tools to collaborate and communicate.
Further, the team used spatial maps, 4D animations, a construction digital twin, and more to help during the height of COVID and beyond. Zachry reports it saved 29,050 resource hours for scheduling and 120,000 resource hours on work package development.
The Golden Pass is another dimension of LNG.
