Adopting Mixed Reality (MR) Strategically

From AR Post

Mixed realty (MR) combines the physical and digital worlds, allowing users to interact with and manipulate virtual objects in real time. It’s a, well, a mix of VR and AR; a blend of reality and digital objects.

This emerging technology holds enormous potential for a wide range of applications, from training and collaboration to design and engineering. Like any emerging technology, adopting it requires a strategic approach. ARPost laid out best practices to approach MR adoption

  1. Know your goals, understand where and how the application will be used, and plan for object interaction.

  2. Use existing historical and legacy knowledge within the organization to digitalize.

  3. Go slow: Start with a proof of concept (PoC), minimum viable product (MVP), or prototype and get it in users’ hands.

  4. Train users to make sure they’re comfortable with the new technology and can use it and provide feedback.

  5. Know your metrics—outline KPIs, get baseline measurements, and track progress.

Enterprises shouldn’t adopt MR for MR’s sake, but there are readily available applications where MR can improve efficiency, safety, and more.

The reality might be mixed, but the results aren’t.
