ICYMI: April’s Top Energy Drone & Robotics Stories

ICYMI: April’s Top Energy Drone & Robotics Stories

Shakespeare said, “April hath put a spirit of youth in everything.” Tell that to my creaky knee each time it rains.

As we say goodbye to April, it’s time to look back at the top stories from the Energy Drone & Robotics community for the month.

1. Drones and Robots Move Beyond “Green” in Green Energy Transition

To no one’s surprise, the conversations are turning to robot and drone maturity in industrial applications. Enterprises are launching new applications seemingly daily, and vendors are working to make that process as streamlined and cost-effective as possible.

2. Integration Robot Nation

One of those vendors, Yokogawa, has robotic integration pilot programs in facilities around the world using well-known robots from ANYbotics, Boston Dynamics, and Mitsubishi Heavy Industry (MHI). Yokogawa is helping industrial facilities take a holistic approach to robots, drones, AI, automation, IoT, and the data and insights that come from such technologies.

3. Spot the Difference

Spot, Boston Dynamics’ well-known four-legged robot, is being used for autonomous inspection applications in industrial facilities, including oil and gas assets. Equipped with sensors and visual inspection technologies, Spot can navigate facilities and detect anomalies that may indicate a hazardous leak. This detection approach can identify potential issues earlier than human monitoring, improving facility safety.

There are plenty of exciting things happening in our industry. If you have a case study we should cover, send it our way.
