ICYMI: Energy Drone & Robotics Stories Are Out of Sight
/ICYMI: Energy Drone & Robotics Stories Are Out of Sight
Another month means another roundup of our top Energy Drone & Robotics stories. Like drones, summer is flying by. Unlike drones, I want summer to stop flying by.
Here were our top stories in June 2023.
Drones Carry Industrial Cargo Delivery
Industrial drone cargo delivery has been a big topic of discussion—enterprises are excited at the possibilities. In the last few months, a lot of news has come out of this sector:
Dronamics successfully completed the first flight of its flagship delivery aircraft, the Black Swan
Elroy Air demonstrated the autonomous ground navigation and cargo-handling systems of its Chaparral aircraft
RigiTech and Spright are partnering up to establish new drone delivery networks for healthcare clients
Wingcopter got a €40 million investment to ramp up production and deployment of its Wingcopter 198
Velos Rotors, with its Velos V3 UAV helicopter used for cargo delivery, closed a $2 million investment
There’s a lot in flight—both news and drones.
BVLOS Waivers Continue Momentum
Two—count ‘em, two—of our top stories were about Percepto’s latest beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) waiver.
The waiver, which you can read about here, allows Percepto to operate uncrewed aircraft systems BVLOS in shielded airspace, without humans onsite, and without expensive and cumbersome ground-based or airborne detect and avoid (DAA) systems. It’s a first-of-its-kind waiver, and is an example of the continued expansion of aerial drone operations.
Percepto’s clients are already using the new waiver to bolster inspections at sites nationwide. Koch Ag and Energy has been working with Percepto for a few years on its drone inspection program and is excited for how this waiver will improve inspections and lower costs. Read about Koch Ag and Energy’s drone program with Percepto.
That’s the good word for June. July is coming in with a bang…mostly because of the fireworks.
