Joint Effort to Increase Female Participation in Energy Industry

The Energy Drone & Robotics Coalition and the Women and Drones network have formed a new partnership to broaden access to opportunities for women using drones in the energy sectors. Both organizations share a common goal, which is to increase the participation and opportunities for women in energy and robotics. Through the partnership, the two organizations hope to make an even bigger impact.

Energy Drone & Robotics Coalition Executive Direct Sean Guerre says, "As the marketplace and growth have accelerated remote operations with UAVs and Robotics in Energy, our community recognizes the importance of having different insights and additional subject matter experts who can collaborate together for mutual benefit. We feel, by building this industry partnership with the dynamic and rapidly growing Women and Drones community, we can create more resources and opportunities for new voices and sharing of best practices in both energy and drone operations."

According to statistics from the Federal Aviation Administration, females make up only 6.7% of the total certificated remote pilot population. As in other areas of the aviation industry, the representation of women is very low.  The Energy Drone & Robotics Global Coalition presents a one-of-a-kind opportunity for Women and Drones members to learn about cutting-edge drone technologies and solutions, specifically for energy companies. “This partnership aligns with our core strategy to help our members expand their network and make business deals in the broader UAS industry,” explained Women and Drones’ CEO and Founder, Sharon Rossmark.

One opportunity for Women and Drones members to participate in the Energy Drone & Robotics Coalition community will be at the upcoming Global Gathering, taking place November 10-12.
