Magic Leap Shares 6 Steps for Enterprise AR Success
/Magic Leap specializes in AR specifically for enterprises to help humans work better and smarter. It released Magic Leap 1, a wearable AR headset, and has built an ecosystem of developers, enterprises, and users.
In a recent article, Walter Delph, chief business officer of Magic Leap, shared the 6 steps enterprises need to take to increase the chances of success with AR.
1. Align AR Strategy with Bigger Company Goals
Enterprises won’t benefit from doing AR for AR’s sake. An immersive tech strategy should align with a company’s digital strategy, transformation goals, and overarching vision. A solution for an enterprise looking to drive new growth will look different from a solution for a company focused on becoming more efficient at current operations.
Delph recommends asking, “What problem are you solving for your business and why do you think AR is the right solution?”
2. Get Leadership Buy-in
Engage project stakeholders—from members of the C-suite to managers to employees who would actually be using the tech—as early as possible. Input from a variety of sources helps make sure AR projects are getting a full look from those with helpful input.
3. Identify and Track Outcomes
Choose a starting point that clearly sets the project in the direction of achieving your strategic goals. Define clear outcomes, measurable KPIs, and ROI projections so as implementation progresses, you have objective measures of success.
4. Bring in Partners
When your enterprise is new to immersive technology, it can be helpful to have a partner by your side. Delph said, “Spatial computing is new and ever-evolving, and establishing a relationship with a knowledgeable partner—especially one with experience executing enterprise-class AR projects—will help you avoid common pitfalls and unnecessary complications.”
5. Crawl, Walk, Then Run
Starting with a realistic use case or simple prototype can go a long way toward engaging key stakeholders and inspiring team members. If an enterprise swings too big and fails, future AR projects may be in jeopardy, even if they’re valuable undertakings.
6. Continuously Improve
Always be moving forward. Learn from the good and the bad, and put a focus on the highest-value use cases. Be specific in how you test and measure outcomes to make sure there’s objective evidence for or against decisions.
Enterprises implementing AR can use these 6 steps to make the leap.
