Emergence of Counter Drone Systems (C-UAS) for Security

Just a few days ago Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority urged oil companies to be more vigilant over an unidentified drone seen flying near Norwegian offshore oil and gas platforms warning they could pose a risk of accidents or deliberate attacks and only a few years ago a drone had crashed near a power substation in Pennsylvania was likely intentionally aimed to cause damage to the electric equipment that could have set off a cascading event.

With so many consumer drones on the market and ease of operation, we are now seeing the emergence of Counter Drone Systems (C-UAS) for security are now being deployed within the Oil/Gas and Utility sectors to protect their infrastructure from the possibility of terror attacks.

Bluvec Technologies is based out of Vancouver Canada has developed several highly advanced solution-based C-UAS counter-drone systems. When it comes to Bluvec’s C-UAS systems the “secret sauce” factor is their advanced AI, IoT machine learning software can detect incoming drones and geolocate both the drone and pilot in real-time, ID the make, model, frequency, and the serial number of most drones currently on the market.

Another critical factor for C-UAS RF systems is the long-range capabilities for the earliest possible detection. Bluvec’s Blusensor A8000 RF sensor has a radius range of up to 24km (about 14.91 mi) and can track up to thirty drones and pilots simultaneously with only one sensor whereas other C-UAS systems require 3 – 4 sensors to accurately triangulate positioning.

With only one sensor the costs, system complexities and installation are greatly reduced while providing far more features not found in other C-UAS systems including Bluvec’s proprietary GEN 2 Deep Signal Inspection technology that mitigates false alarms with a 99 percent accuracy.

Bluvec Technologies has several mission-proven C-UAS platforms including RF, Electro-Optical and Jamming systems for commercial applications for Oil and Gas, Utilities and Infrastructure.
